In the 16th minute, Celestino Gaitan made a precise shot to the right of Roque Valerio. Deportivo Merlo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Claudio Orlan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Delmiro Gorbea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Celestino Gaitan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celestino Gaitan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roque Valerio having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Deportivo Merlo's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Sotero came free, but Roque Valerio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute, Claudio Orlan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gaspar Txartiko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, Comandante Andresito's goalkeeper Delmiro Gorbea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claudio Orlan. When Gaspar Txartiko came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Deportivo Merlo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaspar Txartiko couldn't finish the play. In the 44th match minute, Comandante Andresito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arsenio Sengrat to maneuver through the defense. When Joaquin Bazil fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Merlo's protests and gave Joaquin Bazil a yellow card for diving instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Celestino Gaitan made a kick off. Claudio Orlan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delmiro Gorbea having to interfere. Delmiro Gorbea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Orlan in the 56th minute of play. Deportivo Merlo's Claudio Orlan got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Claudio Orlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 62 minutes, Agustin Egun managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Merlo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustin Egun was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Agustin Egun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delmiro Gorbea having to interfere. Claudio Orlan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celestino Gaitan in the 73rd minute of play forced Deportivo Merlo's goalkeeper Roque Valerio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Celestino Gaitan notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Deportivo Merlo's Roque Valerio. Roque Valerio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Deportivo Merlo's Roque Valerio got control of the ball when Patricio Sotero tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 81 played minutes, Deportivo Merlo's Fausto Quexal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Delmiro Gorbea came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Deportivo Merlo reached it. The supporters of Deportivo Merlo booed when Comandante Andresito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delmar Mergildo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Comandante Andresito's Delmiro Gorbea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Orlan in the 83rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patricio Sotero got free with Roque Valerio in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Patricio Sotero struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Roque Valerio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Comandante Andresito. After having played for 91 minutes, Patricio Sotero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Comandante Andresito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Sotero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Merlo's Joaquin Bazil got a free kick in the 96th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Comandante Andresito had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
