The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Freddy Luken showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmelo Lamberto in the 4th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, La Banda de la Patri's goal looked a bit too open when Carmelo Lamberto came free, but Freddy Luken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Freddy Luken came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by RODELFI F.C's Carmelo Lamberto. But to his dismay, Carmelo Lamberto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in RODELFI F.C's zone, Fulgencio Piarres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cleto Timo came out of the goal and Fulgencio Piarres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fulgencio Piarres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Cleto Timo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddy Luken came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by RODELFI F.C's Zeledon Jago. But to his dismay, Zeledon Jago quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Cristobal Sadurni hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. If Carmelo Lamberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Zeledon Jago had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Freddy Luken. La Banda de la Patri's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zeledon Jago was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Freddy Luken took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carmelo Lamberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeledon Jago in the 55th minute of play forced La Banda de la Patri's goalkeeper Freddy Luken to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Genaro Rumaldo hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. If Carmelo Lamberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zeledon Jago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Freddy Luken read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Damian Eli charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Damian Eli the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 69th match minute, La Banda de la Patri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damian Eli to maneuver through the defense.
