Santo Galo started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the game, one of River Plate:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After a defensive mix-up in River Plate's zone, Atilano Blasi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Gabon came out of the goal and Atilano Blasi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 15th minute, Bernabe Inguma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Guaberto Rolado hit a great ball. Atilano Blasi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Gabon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Higinio Ignazio during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 22nd minute, Higinio Ignazio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Jorge Sugoi from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Paulo Gabon's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Paulo Gabon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santo Galo in the 27th minute of the match. Leon Suero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Geronimo Matei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Higinio Ignazio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Santo Galo took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Paulo Gabon to make any attempt to save it.

If Leon Suero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Salomillo AC's Geronimo Matei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Higinio Ignazio in the 57th minute of play. Leon Suero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 62nd minute, Atilano Blasi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo Gabon was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. River Plate's Higinio Ignazio got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulo Gabon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santo Galo, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Santo Galo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. River Plate's Paulo Gabon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santo Galo in the 79th minute of play. Atilano Blasi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Gabon having to interfere. Urbano Roderigo struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Geronimo Matei didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. After 97 minutes of play, Salomillo AC's Santo Galo made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulo Gabon was left in no man's land by his defense there!
