It was a penalty for Esquel! Esquel:s Higinio Bikendi showed great skill when he stopped Pedro Hermon:s penalty. If Donato Abaunza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Riverplatense en Bernabeu's Donato Abaunza got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Riverplatense en Bernabeu's Silvestre Boni sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Higinio Bikendi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacobo Petrigai during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tadeo Astrada received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. David Osoro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th match minute, Riverplatense en Bernabeu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Arlo to maneuver through the defense. After 45 minutes of play, Esquel's Tadeo Astrada made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. David Osoro was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Donato Abaunza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Leopoldo Arlo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvestre Boni in the 61st minute of play forced Esquel's goalkeeper Higinio Bikendi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donato Abaunza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Higinio Bikendi having to interfere. Tadeo Astrada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 65 minutes, Pedro Hermon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Riverplatense en Bernabeu and the Esquel players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Riverplatense en Bernabeu's Pedro Hermon got a free kick in the 65th minute. Tadeo Astrada could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but David Osoro made a huge save. Tadeo Astrada recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Generoso Solustiano kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Donato Abaunza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tadeo Astrada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tadeo Astrada charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tadeo Astrada the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 76 played minutes Esquel got a freekick which was hit by Tadeo Astrada. If Donato Teyo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvestre Boni struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Higinio Bikendi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Riverplatense en Bernabeu. Leonides Nuxila's late challenge caught a Riverplatense en Bernabeu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonides Nuxila helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Riverplatense en Bernabeu booed when Esquel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonides Nuxila didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esquel's Higinio Bikendi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvestre Boni in the 95th minute of play.
