After recieving a nice pass, Deportivo Laspeyres FC's Florentino Tancredo tried to score from far away in the 6th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Edelmiro Oso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mateo Firmin's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. In the 11th minute, Mateo Firmin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edelmiro Oso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Celso Atarratze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mateo Firmin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Deportivo Laspeyres FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sarmiento:s goal. In the 30th minute, Celso Atarratze got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edelmiro Oso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Gerazan in the 36th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Celso Atarratze's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edelmiro Oso was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. When Jorge Arias fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sarmiento's protests and gave Jorge Arias a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sarmiento getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Jorge Arias hit a great ball. When Celso Atarratze came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Deportivo Laspeyres FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celso Atarratze couldn't finish the play. Edelmiro Oso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mateo Firmin, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Edelmiro Oso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Atarratze, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Conrado Orlin to make the kick off. If Celso Atarratze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Celso Atarratze kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Edelmiro Oso. That made the score 0-2 in the 59 minute of play. Celso Atarratze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Celso Atarratze's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Edelmiro Oso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Edelmiro Oso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mateo Firmin in the 70th minute. Maximiliano Mikelats struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Edelmiro Oso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Laspeyres FC. Armando Gerazan hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Conrado Orlin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sarmiento's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conrado Orlin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Conrado Orlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Dayam having to interfere. Edelmiro Oso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Atarratze in the 86th minute of the match. If Mateo Firmin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Deportivo Laspeyres FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sarmiento throughout the match.
