The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Remigio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolas Pirro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicasio Gonzales's late challenge caught a River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicasio Gonzales helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Jota Erre Erre's Nicasio Gonzales got a free kick in the 9th minute. When the match clock showed 10 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Nicolas Pirro sped through Jota Erre Erre's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Humberto Remigio. Nicanor Quirze received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Humberto Remigio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Jota Erre Erre's goalkeeper Humberto Remigio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gabriel Martxelin made a kick off. If Nicanor Quirze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Geronimo Goiz struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Humberto Remigio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Nicanor Quirze managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicanor Quirze was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Humberto Remigio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 59 minutes into the match, Jota Erre Erre's goalkeeper Humberto Remigio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Uriel Estavan. Nestor Benitez got his second yellow card in the match during the 60th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. River Plate's Narciso Millrick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arsenio Martinez in the 66th minute of play. Jota Erre Erre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arsenio Martinez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicanor Quirze could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Humberto Remigio made a huge save. Narciso Millrick stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arsenio Martinez's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. River Plate's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
