Papagallos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alonzo Kelemen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rolando Cordareo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conrado Barros in the 7th minute of play. Godofredo Enetz's late challenge caught a Papagallos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Godofredo Enetz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Papagallos booed when Copetonas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godofredo Enetz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Copetonas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alonzo Kelemen came free, but Silvano Rios reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Froilan Ramirez hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. If Zeledon Oroitz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Copetonas FC's zone, Alonzo Kelemen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvano Rios came out of the goal and Alonzo Kelemen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zeledon Oroitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvano Rios having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Copetonas FC's Froilan Ramirez got a free kick in the 30th minute. When Zeledon Oroitz came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Papagallos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zeledon Oroitz couldn't finish the play. Rolando Cordareo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrado Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eulalio Indartsu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Cordareo having to interfere. If Alonzo Kelemen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Copetonas FC's Silvano Rios proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Copetonas FC from getting a goal against them.
