Cornelio Iraido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Progre. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernabe Miliano in the 6th minute of play forced Buchanan's goalkeeper Cornelio Iraido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A very good chance. 26 minutes into the match, El Progre's Domingos Senin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cornelio Iraido narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th minute Domingos Senin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Iraido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. El Progre's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Bernardino Teyo scored to the left of an out of position Juan Quiroga, making the score, 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Herminio Cortez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juan Quiroga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardino Teyo, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Domingos Senin managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Progre's supporters rose to their feet, but Domingos Senin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cornelio Iraido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Herminio Cortez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Quiroga having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Domingos Senin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cornelio Iraido. Buchanan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Domingos Senin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. A collision led to El Progre getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Francisco Argider hit a great ball. Juan Quiroga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herminio Cortez in the 67th minute of play. Juan Quiroga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casimiro Neron in the 75th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in El Progre's zone, Bernardino Teyo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Quiroga came out of the goal and Bernardino Teyo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Buchanan's Bernardino Teyo got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Herminio Cortez might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juan Quiroga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Herminio Cortez ran back to his position shaking his head.
