Chañar's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Chañar's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Iliana came free, but Ruperto Leizarraga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 20 minutes, Julio Beliran mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sotelo and the Chañar players grew even worse after the yellow card. 24 minutes into the match, Chañar's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Iliana came free, but Ruperto Leizarraga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Chañar defense, Martin Iliana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruperto Leizarraga. The Chañar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruperto Leizarraga should have stopped the shot. In the 29th match minute, Sotelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julio Beliran to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Chañar's zone, Ciro Unax stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruperto Leizarraga came out of the goal and Ciro Unax tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Martin Iliana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sotelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Iliana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruperto Leizarraga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 36 minutes into the match, Chañar's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Unax came free, but Ruperto Leizarraga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute Ciro Unax shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Leizarraga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ricardo Dei fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sotelo's protests and gave Ricardo Dei a yellow card for diving instead. After 45 played minutes Sotelo got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Dei. Mauricio Otsoko, 46 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Ruperto Leizarraga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Iliana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruperto Leizarraga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciro Unax in the 56th minute. The supporters of Sotelo booed when Chañar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gualterio Matthew didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute, Sotelo's Ciro Unax dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. If Ciro Unax had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Iliana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Ruperto Leizarraga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Sotelo getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Mauricio Brion hit a great ball. Ruperto Leizarraga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Iliana in the 82nd minute of the match. Anastasio Francesco's late challenge caught a Sotelo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anastasio Francesco helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 88th minute of the game. One of Chañar:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sotelo:s goal. When Ciro Unax came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Sotelo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ciro Unax couldn't finish the play.
