Clodoveo Ferrando came out of the goal and Conrado Gartzea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 46 minutes, Javier Javiero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Che Oncativo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Javier Javiero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The crowd rose to their feet as Che Oncativo's Gregorio Urti slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Victorino Ferdinand. That made the score 0-1 after 56 minutes of play. Victorino Ferdinand made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Javier Javiero sent off a good shot on target. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Che Oncativo's goalkeeper Clodoveo Ferrando, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Elpidio Costante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Victorino Ferdinand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elpidio Costante might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Victorino Ferdinand. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elpidio Costante ran back to his position shaking his head. Clodoveo Ferrando took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrado Gartzea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victorino Ferdinand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Costante in the 84th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Javier Javiero got free with Victorino Ferdinand in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Instituto Juniors's Victorino Ferdinand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Costante in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Instituto Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Elpidio Costante came free, but Victorino Ferdinand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Armando Otsando fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Instituto Juniors's protests and gave Armando Otsando a yellow card for diving instead. In the 92nd minute, Armando Otsando hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Che Oncativo had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
