The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 23rd minute Saverio Sindo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elpidio Osasun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 24 played minutes Salto AFC got a freekick which was hit by Serafino Conrao. Ceferino Gonsalvo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Elpidio Osasun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd match minute, Zuberbühler was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natalio Firme to maneuver through the defense. If Cosme Medardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Salto AFC's zone, Ceferino Gonsalvo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elpidio Osasun came out of the goal and Ceferino Gonsalvo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of Zuberbühler:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Salto AFC:s goal. Rodrigo Quinton went to the wrong direction when Pascual Vincente was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Zuberbühler's Federico Maurin got his second yellow card of the match in the 53rd minute. The referee ordered Federico Maurin off the ground. In the 54th minute, Federico Maurin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience held their breath when Benicio Eskuin in the 56th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Rodrigo Quinton's left hand side. In the 59th minute, Cosme Medardo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cosme Medardo in the 61st minute of play forced Zuberbühler's goalkeeper Rodrigo Quinton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zuberbühler's Saverio Sindo got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Salto AFC's Elpidio Osasun got control of the ball when Saverio Sindo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Saverio Sindo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Israel Hug sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Emiliano Afonso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
