When Braulio Paskal came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Villa Crespo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Braulio Paskal couldn't finish the play. In the 19th minute, Saturnino Estebe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Emiliano Afonso came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Salto AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emiliano Afonso couldn't finish the play. Villa Crespo's Oscar Frasco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cosme Medardo in the 25th minute of play. Villa Crespo's Maximiliano Rey got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Zeledon Xabier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Maximiliano Rey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Maximiliano Rey made a kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Emiliano Afonso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Oscar Frasco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Braulio Paskal came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Villa Crespo fans jumped to their feet. Rodolfo Ubarna hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. The supporters of Salto AFC booed when Villa Crespo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Salto AFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
