Elpidio Osasun didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anibal Iaki went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Elpidio Osasun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anibal Iaki in the 16th minute of the match. Neymar Junior made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Emiliano Afonso sent off a good shot on target. Cosme Medardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Neymar Junior having to interfere. Barreal's Neymar Junior proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Barreal from getting a goal against them. In the 30th minute Arnoldo Ioritz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elpidio Osasun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 31 minutes, Anibal Iaki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barreal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anibal Iaki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd match minute, Salto AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeledon Xabier to maneuver through the defense. Anibal Iaki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Saturnino Estebe's late challenge caught a Barreal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Saturnino Estebe helped the player get up and apologised. After 38 played minutes Salto AFC got a freekick which was hit by Saturnino Estebe. 39 minutes into the match, Salto AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Arnoldo Ioritz came free, but Elpidio Osasun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cosme Medardo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnoldo Ioritz got free with Elpidio Osasun in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Salto AFC's Elpidio Osasun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anibal Iaki in the 53rd minute of play. When Arnoldo Ioritz came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Barreal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnoldo Ioritz couldn't finish the play. Anibal Iaki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elpidio Osasun having to interfere. If Arnoldo Ioritz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elpidio Osasun made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arnoldo Ioritz in the 71st minute. In the 78th minute, Arnoldo Ioritz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elpidio Osasun was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Aurelio Chorache hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Arnoldo Ioritz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elpidio Osasun having to interfere. Barreal's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
