Roberto Cesaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Islas's Maximiliano Munio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Geleberto in the 8th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roberto Cesaro got free with Maximiliano Munio in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Adrian Geleberto was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 10th minute. Carlsen's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 13th match minute, Carlsen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Eufrasio to maneuver through the defense. Maximiliano Munio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Geleberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adrian Geleberto received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Maximiliano Munio came out and tried to block the shot, but Adrian Geleberto slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Conrado Umea was the one to do the kick off. Roberto Cesaro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maximiliano Munio having to make a save. Adrian Geleberto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Maximiliano Munio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roberto Cesaro in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maximiliano Munio saved Islas from getting behind. Carlsen's Adrian Geleberto got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carlsen's goalkeeper Sven Borgman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maximiliano Munio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adrian Geleberto's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Pascual Phelipe charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pascual Phelipe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Islas's Pascual Phelipe got a free kick in the 74th minute. Roberto Cesaro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maximiliano Munio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Carlsen's Americo Pero got a free kick in the 85th minute. Maximiliano Munio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Geleberto in the 88th minute of play. After 94 played minutes Carlsen got a freekick which was hit by Americo Pero. Sven Borgman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Andres Sabin went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
