The supporters of Sportivo Backyardigans booed when Margarita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Weather didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcial Mino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcial Mino came out of the goal and Higinio Bonadona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Mario Javiero fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Margarita's protests and gave Mario Javiero a yellow card for diving instead. In the 53rd minute, Mario Javiero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Sportivo Backyardigans getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Severo Marino hit a great ball. Marcial Mino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Higinio Bonadona in the 58th minute. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Froilan Ourente sped through Sportivo Backyardigans's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcial Mino. If Froilan Ourente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delmar Cruz in the 70th minute of play forced Margarita's goalkeeper Amadeo Otsando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sportivo Backyardigans's zone, Froilan Ourente stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcial Mino came out of the goal and Froilan Ourente tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Higinio Bonadona came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Margarita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Higinio Bonadona couldn't finish the play.
