The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Filiberto Felipillo's late challenge caught a Club Atlético Titanes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The supporters of Velez Sarsfield booed when Club Atlético Titanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernan Fernendo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Hermengildo Estebe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anibal Chale was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. The Club Atlético Titanes fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when Club Atlético Titanes's Hermengildo Estebe looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Filiberto Felipillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Club Atlético Titanes getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Gustavo Luar hit a great ball. Gustavo Luar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anibal Chale having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Velez Sarsfield's zone, Hernan Fernendo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anibal Chale came out of the goal and Hernan Fernendo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anibal Chale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermengildo Estebe, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 58th minute, Gustavo Luar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Hernan Fernendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Velez Sarsfield's Anibal Chale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Estebe in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the game, Gustavo Luar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Anibal Chale was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gustavo Luar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anibal Chale having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Agustin Orlin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Velez Sarsfield defense, Hermengildo Estebe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anibal Chale. The Velez Sarsfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anibal Chale should have stopped the shot. Hermengildo Estebe struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Anibal Chale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético Titanes. In the 86thth minute of the game Hermengildo Estebe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Velez Sarsfield's Anibal Chale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 88 played minutes Velez Sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Ruben Alonso. If Hermengildo Estebe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gustavo Luar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hermengildo Estebe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anibal Chale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. There was no doubt that Club Atlético Titanes were the better team. Club Atlético Titanes's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
