Ruben Alonso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Filiberto Felipillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Velez Sarsfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Filiberto Felipillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hector Herensuge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Ruben Alonso came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Velez Sarsfield fans jumped to their feet. After having played for 43 minutes, Gonzalo Cesario managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ROJOFUGAZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonzalo Cesario was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Velez Sarsfield defense, Luisito Ixaka kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anibal Chale. The Velez Sarsfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anibal Chale should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Filiberto Felipillo made the kick off in the second half. If Luisito Ixaka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filiberto Felipillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Herensuge having to interfere. A collision led to Velez Sarsfield getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Paolo Piarres hit a great ball. In the 63rd minute of the match Ildefonso Ospetsu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Anibal Chale showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 63 played minutes Velez Sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Paolo Piarres. 67 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Anibal Chale had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dario Manuelo. Ruben Alonso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
