In the 11th minute Federico Gaufred shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Kiliz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benjamin Rosalio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Humberto Kiliz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaime Florian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adan George hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Sarmiento defense, Vladimiro Jobo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Victorio Locaio. The Sarmiento fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Victorio Locaio should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 52 minutes, Zacarias Manuelo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sarmiento and the Unzué players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vladimiro Jobos short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Victorio Locaio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 62nd minute, Federico Gaufred ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Humberto Kiliz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.
