In the 4th minute Aldo Lonzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Brotherton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Monte Olivia's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Abel came free, but Tomás Pierres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Oton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Brotherton having to interfere. Danny Brotherton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Oton in the 26th minute of play. A hard shot by Eustacio Beila from long distance, 29 minutes into the match, got Tomás Pierres's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 30 minutes into the match, Monte Olivia's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Abel came free, but Tomás Pierres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Chapanay FC's zone, Jorge Oton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danny Brotherton came out of the goal and Jorge Oton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 38th minute Alberto Tolino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Brotherton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hector Abel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Tomás Pierres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With a little luck, Chapanay FC's Danny Brotherton got control of the ball when Alberto Tolino tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Jorge Oton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Alberto Tolino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monte Olivia's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Tolino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Danny Brotherton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Chapanay FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Monte Olivia were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
