Spectators: 6762 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1662, VIP seats: 100) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Gogo Steven got the match started through his kick off. The academia fans' excitement grew in the 7th match minute when academia's Oscar Caitano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. academia's Aureliano Pudes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gogo Steven in the 11th minute of play. Alfonso Emmanuel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aureliano Pudes having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gogo Steven in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aureliano Pudes saved academia from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geronimo Chesus in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcelino Tavio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcelino Tavio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Caitano in the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Geronimo Chesus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christian Perutxo during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 27th match minute, academia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Perutxo to maneuver through the defense. Marcelino Tavio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar Caitano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Filiberto Ugaitz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geronimo Chesus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelino Tavio having to interfere. Geronimo Chesus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Marcelino Tavio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Oscar Caitano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute Filiberto Ugaitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aureliano Pudes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, one of gimnasia y esgrima LP:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for gimnasia y esgrima LP. The goalkeeper, Marcelino Tavio, was totally fooled by academia's Virgilio Cristofol, who 55 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 60th minute, Geronimo Chesus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marcelino Tavio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geronimo Chesus in the 63rd minute of play. Virgilio Cristofol hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Gogo Steven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aureliano Pudes having to interfere. In the 71st match minute, academia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Perutxo to maneuver through the defense. gimnasia y esgrima LP's Ruperto Cuarto couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for academia. Gogo Steven recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oscar Caitano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 82 minutes into the match, gimnasia y esgrima LP's goal looked a bit too open when Geronimo Chesus came free, but Marcelino Tavio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Geronimo Chesus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had been going on for 97 minutes, academia's Virgilio Cristofol got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Marcelino Tavio. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. academia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
