In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind gimnasia y esgrima LP's goalkeeper Marcelino Tavio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Roque Herrera came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Los buitres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Herrera couldn't finish the play. Arnaldo Bernard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute, Gogo Steven got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of gimnasia y esgrima LP booed when Los buitres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roman Javiero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guillermo Nahia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Emmanuel, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Guillermo Nahia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gogo Steven in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Ruperto Cuarto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Nicanor Maxin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roque Herrera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to gimnasia y esgrima LP getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Romulo Colas hit a great ball. Alejandro Favila kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. With his leg Marcelino Tavio managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when Los buitres's Roque Herrera fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 40th minute, Alfonso Emmanuel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 42nd minute, Gogo Steven got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gogo Steven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guillermo Nahia having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gogo Steven stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfonso Emmanuel got free with Guillermo Nahia in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 56th match minute, gimnasia y esgrima LP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicanor Maxin to maneuver through the defense. Los buitres's Guillermo Nahia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Los buitres from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Los buitres getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Roman Javiero hit a great ball. Gogo Steven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Guillermo Nahia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guillermo Nahia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gogo Steven, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gogo Steven in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guillermo Nahia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 83rd minute, Gogo Steven fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Guillermo Nahia, passed just outside the right post. Guillermo Nahia made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Alfonso Emmanuel sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roque Herrera in the 89th minute of play forced gimnasia y esgrima LP's goalkeeper Marcelino Tavio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute, Uriel Frechoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Uriel Frechoso struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Marcelino Tavio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los buitres.
