The shot was stopped by Marcial Pere but with some difficulty. After 17 minutes, Aaron Txaran mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Parque Norte and the C.A. RIVER PLATE players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of C.A. RIVER PLATE booed when Parque Norte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. But to his dismay, Gerardo Abad quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Silvestre Lauaxeta might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vladimiro Larpe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silvestre Lauaxeta ran back to his position shaking his head. Gerardo Abad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerardo Abad recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Parque Norte supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Parque Norte would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
