With a little luck, Saprissa's Jacinto Panfilo got control of the ball when Urbano Torres tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Racing Club de Acassuso's Aquilino Tonio got a free kick in the 27th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Racing Club de Acassuso's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Gizon came free, but Angelo Quinton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Apolo Frutos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Oscar Corderall came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Saprissa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Corderall couldn't finish the play. Racing Club de Acassuso's Leo Felipillo suffered a sore thigh after 46 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Pedro Gizon kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After 52 played minutes Racing Club de Acassuso got a freekick which was hit by Isaias Deunoro. Saprissa were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Racing Club de Acassuso's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Elvio Pacho took the corner. Eriberto Sancho was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After having played for 58 minutes, Pedro Gizon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saprissa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Gizon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Angelo Quinton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Gizon in the 72nd minute of the match. If Apolo Frutos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Apolo Frutos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Angelo Quinton having to make a save. Pedro Gizon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th minute Saprissa were awarded a corner. Elvio Pacho went to the cornerflag to take it. Angelo Quinton stood somewhat misplaced when Apolo Frutos came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 89 minute. Pedro Gizon struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Angelo Quinton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saprissa. Saprissa's Pedro Gizon got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Saprissa players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
