Candelaria's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fabian Paez in the 38th minute. The corner led Candelaria's Fabian Paez to fire away a dangerous shot which Raul Gora despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Osvaldo Godoy came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Candelaria fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Godoy couldn't finish the play. In the 41stth minute Osvaldo Godoy got a great chance to score trying to place the ball in the top left corner, but Raul Gora was prepared and efficiently stopped the ball from getting in. Osvaldo Godoy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alberto Menendo struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Raul Gora didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Candelaria. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Marcial Jatsu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filiberto Castel in the 69th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Candelaria's zone, Nemesio Pacho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcial Jatsu came out of the goal and Nemesio Pacho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edgard Guzman hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Raul Gora showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Godoy in the 77th minute of the match. A collision led to Club Deportivo San Marino getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Filomeno Inocente hit a great ball. Osvaldo Godoy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raul Gora showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Menendo in the 84th minute of the match. Club Deportivo San Marino's Raul Gora played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Menendo in the 89th minute of play. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportivo San Marino's goalkeeper Raul Gora, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 94th minute, Club Deportivo San Marino's Eduardo Roderigo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eduardo Roderigo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Club Deportivo San Marino protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eduardo Roderigo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Club Deportivo San Marino fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 93rd minute. Penalty! Fabian Paez shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Alberto Menendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
