In the 17th minute Alberto Iigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Suarez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Desiderio Handi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th minute, Alberto Iigo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ciro Suarez. The goal made the score 1-0. Ciro Suarez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Batistuta in the 26th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Calchaqui's Omar Batistuta ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ciro Suarez. Ciro Suarez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When Calchaqui's Omar Batistuta, in the 37th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Calchaqui. When Omar Batistuta came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Calchaqui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Omar Batistuta couldn't finish the play. Ciro Suarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Iigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Omar Batistuta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ciro Suarez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Siro Medina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ciro Suarez was relentless in the 44th minute of the game.

With a little luck, Calchaqui's Dante Koldo got control of the ball when Rigoberto Valerio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rigoberto Valerio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Koldo made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Rigoberto Valerio sent off a good shot on target. Omar Batistuta struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Ciro Suarez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Calchaqui. In the 62nd minute, Honorio Harkaitz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute Honorio Harkaitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Suarez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Goyena getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Enrique Erlantz hit a great ball. Calchaqui's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goyena the free kick. In the 87th minute, Alberto Iigo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Omar Batistuta came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Calchaqui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Omar Batistuta couldn't finish the play. Calchaqui's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
