Dalmacio Faro might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amancio Peio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dalmacio Faro ran back to his position shaking his head. River Plate's Victorino Lope played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ignacio Farias in the 8th minute of play. Gaston Medina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amancio Peio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Ceres's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Dalmacio Faro 16 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. 22 minutes into the match, River Plate's Dalmacio Faro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amancio Peio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Gaston Medina fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Amancio Peio, passed just outside the right post. When Ignacio Farias fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ceres's protests and gave Ignacio Farias a yellow card for diving instead. After 32 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Dalmacio Faro. River Plate's Dalmacio Faro got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ezequiel Noe took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Victorino Lope. Victorino Lope dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Eustaquio Luzea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Victorino Lope tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dalmacio Faro was the one to do the kick off. Baltasar Domiku recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of River Plate booed when Ceres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Arixo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eustaquio Luzea got free with Victorino Lope in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Ceres getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Elvio Ioritz hit a great ball. Julian Gaspard took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Amancio Peio. Ceres's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Julian Gaspard was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 77th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 80 minutes into the game, Ignacio Indartsu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River Plate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ceres the free kick. In the 80th minute, Ignacio Indartsu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ceres's Ezequiel Noe in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye River Plate's goalie prevented a goal. Gaston Medina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amancio Peio having to interfere. Dalmacio Faro scored 2-1 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Amancio Peio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 92 minutes, Gaston Medina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gaston Medina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Dalmacio Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute, Ezequiel Noe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Gaston Medina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ceres players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for River Plate.
