After 18 played minutes Intersport FC got a freekick which was hit by Silvestre Acuña. 22 minutes into the game, Intersport FC's Niceto Montrelle nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fausto Aimar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Cornelio Timo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The Los Pibes F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Intersport FC were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gustavo Lluc to make the kick off. A collision led to Intersport FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Marcos Lidon hit a great ball. Gustavo Lluc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Intersport FC booed when Los Pibes F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacobo Indalecio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Los Pibes F.C.'s protests and gave Jacobo Indalecio a yellow card for diving instead. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rogelio Bihar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Niceto Montrelle might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fausto Aimar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niceto Montrelle ran back to his position shaking his head. Niceto Montrelle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Aimar having to interfere. Intersport FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
