After a rather tough play, Imperio F.C's Paulino Urritz got a free kick in the 26th minute. Damaso Merexildo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ezequiel Bastiaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ezequiel Bastiaro had several of the Cartel de Medellín's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 30 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Damaso Merexildo as he didn't even see the shot coming. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugenio Bembe in the 43rd minute of play forced Cartel de Medellín's goalkeeper Damaso Merexildo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Damaso Merexildo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenio Bembe in the 45th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armando Sal made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulino Urritz in the 60th minute of play forced Cartel de Medellín's goalkeeper Damaso Merexildo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Damaso Merexildo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugenio Bembe, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Damaso Merexildo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenio Bembe in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th match minute, Cartel de Medellín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Moise to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Ezequiel Bastiaro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Damaso Merexildo was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. 74 minutes into the match, Cartel de Medellín's goal looked a bit too open when Ezequiel Bastiaro came free, but Damaso Merexildo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 87 minutes, Wilfredo Cresitobalo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cartel de Medellín and the Imperio F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wilfredo Cresitobalo kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cartel de Medellín's zone, Ermegildo Locaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damaso Merexildo came out of the goal and Ermegildo Locaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st minute, Celso Moise hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Imperio F.C's Zeledon Mino couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cartel de Medellín. Cartel de Medellín's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
