Ciriaco Mambru's late challenge caught a C.A.Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciriaco Mambru helped the player get up and apologised. Zacarias Baristo was a little too slow when Dario Mantzio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 5-0. Zacarias Baristo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dario Mantzio showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 6-0 in the 46 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gabriel Oton to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Mantzio came free, but Zacarias Baristo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elvio Tome fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Ekhi having to interfere. After some careless play in the C.A.Independiente defense, Placido Txatxu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zacarias Baristo. The C.A.Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zacarias Baristo should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Dario Mantzio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atletico River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Dario Mantzio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zacarias Baristo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rodrigo Chano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Zacarias Baristo. C.A.Independiente's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 90 played minutes C.A.Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Leandro Aurken. After having played for 94 minutes, Dario Mantzio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atletico River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dario Mantzio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ciriaco Mambru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Club Atletico River Plate had played much better football throughout.
