When Placido Txatxu came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Club Atletico River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Placido Txatxu couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Geronimo Leoiar hit a great ball. If Freddy Ekhi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goalkeeper Patricio Pancho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Placido Txatxu. 10 minutes into the match, Dario Mantzio notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Racing Club's Patricio Pancho. Patricio Pancho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 13th match minute, Club Atletico River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Melchor Ranolfo to maneuver through the defense. Ciriaco Mambru hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Club Atletico River Plate's Paolo Erruki quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gregorio Liberto, made in the 20th minute of the game. When Racing Club's Fernan Mikelar in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Nestor Ekhi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernan Mikelar in the 41st minute of play. Dario Mantzio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Patricio Pancho having to make a save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Silvano Cristofol was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Silvano Cristofol left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Racing Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Gregorio Liberto hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Club Atletico River Plate's Nestor Ekhi got control of the ball when Fernan Mikelar tried to sneak it across the goal line. 3-1 became the score in the 68th minute when Dario Mantzio elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Placido Txatxu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute of the match Mauro Gamus sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patricio Pancho skillfully saved the ball. Club Atletico River Plate's Placido Txatxu got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94thth minute of the game Placido Txatxu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Patricio Pancho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Club Atletico River Plate fans cheered their team off the field, for while Racing Club had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
