The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th play minute Fausto Oihenarte came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Romeo Ignado. 2-0. In the 22nd minute Dalmacio Pes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Orti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zacarias Giro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Gustavo Orti acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 54th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Atilano Urki. In the 97th minute, Pablo Fresco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
