The referee ignored Granjeros F.C.'s protests and gave Paolo Abreu a yellow card for diving instead. When Florencio Vincente came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florencio Vincente couldn't finish the play. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Hermengildo Oliviero hit a great ball. Granjeros F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Paolo Abreu in the 17th minute. Elvio Haimar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Cosme Loreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Elvio Haimar made a precise shot to the right of Cosme Loreto. River Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 46 minutes of play, River Plate's Cecilio Onofre made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Braulio Jacindo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Florencio Vincente to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Granjeros F.C. defense, Florencio Vincente kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Braulio Jacindo. The Granjeros F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Braulio Jacindo should have stopped the shot. After having played for 58 minutes, Elvio Haimar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Granjeros F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Elvio Haimar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 59th match minute, River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dario Quexal to maneuver through the defense. In the 65th match minute, Granjeros F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valentin Beremundo to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the match, Granjeros F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cecilio Onofre came free, but Braulio Jacindo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Cecilio Onofre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Pedro Thomas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Granjeros F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Thomas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cosme Loreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 84th minute Florencio Vincente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Braulio Jacindo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Granjeros F.C.'s Pedro Thomas got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, River Plate's Natalio Giraldo got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Thanks to some nice moves Elvio Haimar could shoot a difficult shot in the 95th minute, which Cosme Loreto however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cosme Jatsu got free with Cosme Loreto in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
