Cosme Loreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute Jesus Rubio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosme Loreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cecilio Onofre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Eustaquio Viator tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. River Plate's Florencio Vincente managed to work through Nikizanga's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Florencio Vincente dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Jesus Rubio might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cosme Loreto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jesus Rubio ran back to his position shaking his head. Lisandro Quinten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosme Loreto having to interfere. The River Plate players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
