But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaristo Gartzea couldn't finish the play. Evaristo Gartzea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Evaristo Gartzea put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Desiderio Rumaldo. After a defensive mix-up in Funebré FC's zone, Evaristo Gartzea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Desiderio Rumaldo came out of the goal and Evaristo Gartzea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evaristo Gartzea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Desiderio Rumaldo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Patricio Rey were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dan Florea made a kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Victorino Matteo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Raimundo Sayvion was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dan Florea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Desiderio Rumaldo made a huge save. In the 70th minute, Dan Florea reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Desiderio Rumaldo. The goal made the score 2-3. Dan Florea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Evaristo Gartzea charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evaristo Gartzea the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Funebré FC booed when Patricio Rey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Gartzea didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Patricio Rey could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Funebré FC throughout the match.
