Rene Salvatore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aristides Monico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Vellito in the 16th minute of play forced Nacional y Popular's goalkeeper Ulises Munio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Academia FC's zone, Serafino Basualdo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rene Salvatore came out of the goal and Serafino Basualdo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd match minute, Nacional y Popular was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Frutos to maneuver through the defense. Rene Salvatore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serafino Basualdo, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Serafino Basualdo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rene Salvatore read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Aristides Monico left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nacional y Popular fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Isidoro Vellito made a kick off. After some careless play in the Nacional y Popular defense, Isidoro Vellito kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ulises Munio. The Nacional y Popular fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ulises Munio should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Serafino Basualdo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rene Salvatore was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Academia FC's players were relieved. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Serafino Basualdo in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rene Salvatore saved Academia FC from getting behind. Rene Salvatore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafino Basualdo in the 83rd minute of play. In the 87th minute Isidoro Vellito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Munio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nacional y Popular's Ulises Munio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Rito in the 90th minute of play. Aristides Monico had several of the Academia FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 92 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Rene Salvatore as he didn't even see the shot coming. When the final whistle sounded Nacional y Popular left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Academia FC.
