The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A long shot from Cesar Macerio in the 4th minute of play was well struck, but Anselmo Benvido made a really good save at the right post. CADU's Gogo Arias got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arsenio Manny received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Celedonio Pacifico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute of the match, Teo Abaunza tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Anselmo Benvido saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 18 played minutes, CADU's Saul Erauso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Celedonio Pacifico came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in CADU reached it. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico River Plate's Sixto Otsoa got a free kick in the 19th minute. If Gogo Arias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gogo Arias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Natalio Ganix fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CADU's protests and gave Natalio Ganix a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th minute, Natalio Ganix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teo Abaunza to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in CADU's zone, Teo Abaunza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anselmo Benvido came out of the goal and Teo Abaunza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Florentino Hermon struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Anselmo Benvido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atletico River Plate. After recieving a nice pass, Club Atletico River Plate's Gonzalo Federigo tried to score from far away in the 59th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Florentino Hermon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind CADU's goalkeeper Anselmo Benvido, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Florentino Hermon came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Club Atletico River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florentino Hermon couldn't finish the play. CADU's Artemio Cordarin got his second yellow card of the match in the 69th minute. The referee ordered Artemio Cordarin off the ground.
