Carolo Ponce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Harri having to interfere. A collision led to GiuFa FC getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Ricardo Paio hit a great ball. Agustin Katia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for GiuFa FC! Dario Eutropio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Bernardo Vidal made a huge save. If Bernardo Pelagius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the match, GiuFa FC's goalkeeper Bernardo Vidal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rogelio Loren. In the 24th match minute, GiuFa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelo Sayvion to maneuver through the defense. Marcial Matro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcial Matro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Elias Harri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elias Harri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carolo Ponce, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Newells Old Boys's zone, Carolo Ponce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Harri came out of the goal and Carolo Ponce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Elias Harri, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcial Matro in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elias Harri saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. The supporters of GiuFa FC booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dario Eutropio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carolo Ponce took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elias Harri. Elias Harri dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcial Matro made a kick off. If Dario Eutropio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th minute Bernardo Pelagius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Newells Old Boys's Elias Harri proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Newells Old Boys from getting a goal against them. Marcial Matro struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Elias Harri didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GiuFa FC. Lisandro Crispo hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After 75 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Honorato Laurentzi. Raul Neto, 76 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After having played for 89 minutes, Angelo Sayvion managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GiuFa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angelo Sayvion was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th minute, Honorato Laurentzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carolo Ponce could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Elias Harri made a huge save.
