With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardo Pelagius in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cecilio Astudillo saved Doble Visera FC from getting behind. Elias Harri made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romulo Elazar in the 16th minute. When Doble Visera FC's Eulalio Ledesma in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newells Old Boys's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Doble Visera FC's zone, Bernardo Pelagius stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cecilio Astudillo came out of the goal and Bernardo Pelagius tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Lisandro Crispo fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Lisandro Crispo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Doble Visera FC booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lisandro Crispo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eulalio Ledesma in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elias Harri saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. Romulo Elazar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Elias Harri made a huge save. If Bernardo Pelagius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Eulalio Ledesma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Eulalio Ledesma blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elias Harri having to make a save. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Rogelio Loren got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Elias Harri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eulalio Ledesma in the 58th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Eulalio Ledesma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Doble Visera FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eulalio Ledesma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elias Harri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rogelio Loren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cecilio Astudillo having to interfere. Elias Harri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romulo Elazar in the 68th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Doble Visera FC defense, Dario Eutropio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cecilio Astudillo. The Doble Visera FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cecilio Astudillo should have stopped the shot. In the 77th minute, Bernardo Pelagius got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eulalio Ledesma's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elias Harri read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, Doble Visera FC's goalkeeper Cecilio Astudillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rogelio Loren. Newells Old Boys's Elias Harri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eulalio Ledesma in the 92nd minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded.
