Spectators: 7248 (Terracing: 5437, Seating: 1667, VIP seats: 144) SALERNITANA's Gavino Pereyra started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes, Newells De Rosario's Virgilio Xabier shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lisandro Naike came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Newells De Rosario reached it. After 7 played minutes Gavino Pereyra rounded Newells De Rosario's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Gavino Pereyra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Newells De Rosario's zone, Gavino Pereyra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Generoso Monte came out of the goal and Gavino Pereyra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lisandro Naike showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Truylos, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 33rd minute Generoso Cordareo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lisandro Naike saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Generoso Monte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gavino Pereyra's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. If Rodolfo Truylos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Generoso Monte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gavino Pereyra in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Lino Abadia charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lino Abadia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 52nd minute, Lino Abadia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Generoso Cordareo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newells De Rosario's supporters rose to their feet, but Generoso Cordareo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lisandro Naike breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 56 minutes into the match, SALERNITANA's Gavino Pereyra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Generoso Monte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Emilio Oalo struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Generoso Monte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SALERNITANA. Gavino Pereyra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Generoso Monte having to interfere. SALERNITANA's Gavino Pereyra got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Generoso Cordareo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lisandro Naike having to interfere. Rodolfo Truylos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 75thth minute, Lisandro Naike skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lisandro Naike was out of position in the 76 minute of play, and Generoso Cordareo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Generoso Cordareo really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 81st minute, Emilio Oalo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Emilio Oalo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Rodolfo Truylos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lisandro Naike. That made the score 1-2 in the 86 minute of play. Generoso Monte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gavino Pereyra in the 92nd minute of the match. In the 94th match minute, Newells De Rosario was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reynaldo Paublo to maneuver through the defense. Gavino Pereyra struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Generoso Monte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SALERNITANA. Gavino Pereyra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Generoso Monte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle went the supporters of Newells De Rosario were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant SALERNITANA side.
