In the 9th play minute Clemente Fanuco came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nereo Fraco. 1-0. Narciso Cordarell hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute, Ernesto Opilano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Damian Araoz came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Guemes Juniors's Justino Maria. But to his dismay, Justino Maria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After 31 minutes of play, Guemes Juniors's Justino Maria made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Damian Araoz was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 37th minute River Plate were awarded a corner. Evaristo Primeiro went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led River Plate's Evaristo Primeiro to fire away a dangerous shot which Nereo Fraco despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Damian Araoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romulo Artizar, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Damian Araoz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baldomero Cresconio in the 42nd minute of the match. Clemente Fanuco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clemente Fanuco in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nereo Fraco saved Guemes Juniors from getting behind. Clemente Fanuco scored 2-2 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nereo Fraco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Romulo Artizar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Damian Araoz made a huge save. Damian Araoz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justino Maria in the 66th minute of the match. After 69 minutes, Angelo Salvidor made it 3-2 with a short kick to the right side. Guemes Juniors's Nereo Fraco tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 71 minutes into the game, Ernesto Opilano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Nereo Fraco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, River Plate's Damian Araoz got control of the ball when Romulo Artizar tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, River Plate's Jacinto Abaunza got a free kick in the 77th minute. Damian Araoz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 78th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Honorato Ferman. Nereo Fraco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clemente Fanuco in the 82nd minute of play. Nereo Fraco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Opilano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nereo Fraco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clemente Fanuco, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. The supporters of River Plate booed when Guemes Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adan Cordero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Damian Araoz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romulo Artizar in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute, Mauricio Mercurio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. River Plate's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
