Spectators: 6659 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1659, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Santiago Manuelo started the match with the kick off. The Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's Basilio Astigar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ladislao Jatsu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Israel Hurko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Arnaldo Inocente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Jatsu in the 10th minute of play forced Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's goalkeeper Arnaldo Inocente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mauro Christobal got free with Enzo Etxatxu in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnaldo Inocente showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Jatsu in the 20th minute of the match. When Braulio Rocendo fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's protests and gave Braulio Rocendo a yellow card for diving instead. Braulio Rocendo kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Israel Hurko in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnaldo Inocente saved Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata from getting behind. Mauro Christobal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Nereo Jerold hit a great ball. Arnaldo Inocente came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's Ladislao Jatsu. But to his dismay, Ladislao Jatsu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Enzo Etxatxu made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Braulio Rocendo sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 48 minutes, Ladislao Jatsu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ladislao Jatsu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Israel Hurko was the one to do the kick off. When Israel Hurko came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Israel Hurko couldn't finish the play. Mauro Christobal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Godofredo Bela hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's zone, Mauro Christobal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enzo Etxatxu came out of the goal and Mauro Christobal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute, Braulio Rocendo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Israel Hurko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnaldo Inocente having to interfere. If Mauro Christobal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Mauro Christobal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Christobal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enzo Etxatxu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Enzo Etxatxu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Manuelo in the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Santiago Manuelo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Enzo Etxatxu. Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santiago Manuelo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's Godofredo Bela got a free kick in the 78th minute. Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's Israel Hurko got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Israel Hurko came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Israel Hurko couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute, Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's Basilio Astigar ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnaldo Inocente. Arnaldo Inocente yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Gimnasia y Esgrima de LP's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
