Spectators: 6677 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 0) Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's Santiago Manuelo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arnaldo Inocente showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Candido Ilixo in the 9th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's Cirilo Ugaitz got a free kick in the 12th minute. Arnaldo Inocente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Candido Frederico in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute Guillermo Macerio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Inocente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Candido Frederico notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's Arnaldo Inocente. Arnaldo Inocente was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago Manuelo in the 25th minute of play forced FENIX's goalkeeper Narciso Sadurni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Candido Frederico notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's Arnaldo Inocente. Arnaldo Inocente was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arnaldo Inocente came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by FENIX's Candido Frederico. But to his dismay, Candido Frederico quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 0-4 became the score in the 38th minute when Candido Ilixo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Candido Frederico managed to get in a good position for a shot. FENIX's supporters rose to their feet, but Candido Frederico was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnaldo Inocente breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arnaldo Inocente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Candido Ilixo in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Candido Ilixo made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata's goalkeeper Arnaldo Inocente had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Candido Frederico. After having played for 55 minutes, Guillermo Macerio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FENIX's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guillermo Macerio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Candido Frederico managed to get in a good position for a shot. FENIX's supporters rose to their feet, but Candido Frederico was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnaldo Inocente breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cirilo Ugaitz was shown his second yellow card after 61 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 62nd minute, Cirilo Ugaitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Candido Frederico received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Arnaldo Inocente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Candido Ilixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. Candido Ilixo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Candido Ilixo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnaldo Inocente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Candido Ilixo, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. In the 87th match minute, Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastian Ignatius to maneuver through the defense. When the match was over FENIX could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata throughout the match.
