The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Candido Olentzaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Neron saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Virgilio Jacindo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Oscar Macerio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Oscar Macerio came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Gimnasia y salto en alto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Macerio couldn't finish the play. In the 21st minute Andres Amato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Gonsalve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gimnasia y salto en alto's Virgilio Jacindo got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 28 played minutes Pampita AFC got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Urbes. Gimnasia y salto en alto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Virgilio Jacindo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Oscar Macerio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Virgilio Jacindo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia y salto en alto's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgilio Jacindo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mario Gonsalve breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ariel Cordaryal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute, Virgilio Jacindo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mario Gonsalve was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oscar Macerio made a kick off. In the 56th match minute, Gimnasia y salto en alto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgilio Jacindo to maneuver through the defense. Santiago Neron made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Candido Olentzaro in the 62nd minute of play. Gimnasia y salto en alto's Santiago Neron played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ariel Cordaryal in the 75th minute of play. Candido Olentzaro took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Santiago Neron. Santiago Neron dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Amador Ted sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Pampita AFC booed when Gimnasia y salto en alto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benicio Transito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gimnasia y salto en alto were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
