Thanks to some nice moves Virgilio Corderun could shoot a difficult shot in the 38th minute, which Diego Xabel however easily saved by the left post. Diego Xabel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgilio Corderun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th minute, Humberto Tirso sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Diadema's Diego Xabel didn't even have to move. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. RIVER PLATE FC had played much better football throughout.
