Hersilia AFC's Honorato Soin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Hersilia AFC from getting a goal against them. Hersilia AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RIVER PLATE FC the free kick. Virgilio Corderun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Honorato Soin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Honorato Soin made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Virgilio Corderun sent off a good shot on target. Virgilio Corderun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Honorato Soin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 31 minutes, Joel Eguerdi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RIVER PLATE FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Eguerdi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Virgilio Corderun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Honorato Soin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Bonifacio Chayo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute of the match Flavio Cordairo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Honorato Soin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cesar Sabino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angel Peio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Eguerdi hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. If Virgilio Corderun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Bonifacio Chayo might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Honorato Soin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Virgilio Corderun in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Honorato Soin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 63rd match minute, Hersilia AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fausto Lando to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Hersilia AFC's zone, Humberto Tirso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Honorato Soin came out of the goal and Humberto Tirso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgilio Corderun in the 68th minute of play forced Hersilia AFC's goalkeeper Honorato Soin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Joel Eguerdi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 71 played minutes Hersilia AFC got a freekick which was hit by Amadeo Panfilo. After some careless play in the Hersilia AFC defense, Virgilio Corderun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Honorato Soin. The Hersilia AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Honorato Soin should have stopped the shot. Marcelino Urdaspal charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 78th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Amadeo Panfilo hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. Virgilio Corderun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Honorato Soin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. In the 84th minute Joel Eguerdi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Honorato Soin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RIVER PLATE FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cecilio Veto in the 90th minute. A nice corner shot did that Virgilio Corderun got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Honorato Soin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 92 minutes into the match, Hersilia AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Eguerdi came free, but Honorato Soin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oscar Montrel was shown his second yellow card after 93 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of RIVER PLATE FC booed when Hersilia AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Montrel didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that RIVER PLATE FC were the better team. RIVER PLATE FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
