In the 7th match minute, Guardamonte was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnulfo Mino to maneuver through the defense. Boca Juniors's Isidro Laurentzi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Boca Juniors from getting a goal against them. 16 minutes into the match, Guardamonte's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Nafarroa came free, but Clemente Savion reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Feliciano Quirze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute Paulo Nel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidro Laurentzi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zacarias Orlin's late challenge caught a Guardamonte's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zacarias Orlin helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute, Genaro Eguerdi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clemente Savion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Nafarroa, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Guardamonte's Clemente Savion played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feliciano Quirze in the 34th minute of play. If Oscar Nafarroa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Victoriano Oxarra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Clemente Savion tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Ariel Sandalio could shoot a difficult shot in the 42nd minute, which Isidro Laurentzi however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Feliciano Quirze in the 47th minute of play forced Guardamonte's goalkeeper Clemente Savion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo Nel to make the kick off. Oscar Nafarroa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Clemente Savion having to make a save. Isidro Laurentzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ariel Sandalio in the 61st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Paulo Nel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isidro Laurentzi came out of the goal and Paulo Nel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Oscar Nafarroa who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 66thth minute tested the skills of Clemente Savion when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 69 minutes into the match, Guardamonte's goalkeeper Clemente Savion had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oscar Nafarroa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Nel in the 74th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Isidro Laurentzi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oscar Nafarroa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clemente Savion was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Oscar Nafarroa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Oscar Nafarroa really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. Oscar Nafarroa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Savion having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Oscar Nafarroa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Oscar Nafarroa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clemente Savion breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Silvio Rencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Clemente Savion tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Boca Juniors played a much better game than Guardamonte and deserved their victory. The Guardamonte players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
