When Orlando Gutierrez came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Pájaro Negro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orlando Gutierrez couldn't finish the play. Ibarreta's Cristian Omero got his second yellow card of the match in the 25th minute. The referee ordered Cristian Omero off the ground. A collision led to Ibarreta getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Cristian Omero hit a great ball. Paulo Ospin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Pájaro Negro's Victoriano Hats threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Paulo Ospin, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 38thth minute of the game Paulo Ospin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ibarreta's Victoriano Hats was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Victoriano Hats took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Ospin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Arnulfo Flor took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Angelino Delfino to make any attempt to save it. After a defensive mix-up in Ibarreta's zone, Paulo Ospin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victoriano Hats came out of the goal and Paulo Ospin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 77 minutes, Paulo Ospin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pájaro Negro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Ospin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paulo Ospin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victoriano Hats having to interfere. Arnulfo Flor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Pájaro Negro's zone, Arnulfo Flor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angelino Delfino came out of the goal and Arnulfo Flor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
