Nestor Claus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 6 minutes, Constantino Perutxo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Constantino Perutxo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hector Uhin hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. 10 minutes into the match, Nestor Claus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Epifanio Montel. Maldita Suerte FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nestor Claus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 14 minutes, Isidro Mark mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maldita Suerte FC and the River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Maldita Suerte FC's Isidro Mark got a free kick in the 14th minute. If Nestor Claus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Epifanio Montel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Claus in the 24th minute of play. Nestor Claus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carolo Beila in the 29th minute of play forced Maldita Suerte FC's goalkeeper Epifanio Montel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Epifanio Montel came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Constantino Perutxo. But to his dismay, Constantino Perutxo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The supporters of River Plate booed when Maldita Suerte FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermengildo Karlo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Epifanio Montel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Ortzi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Carolo Beila came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carolo Beila couldn't finish the play. 42 minutes into the match, Maldita Suerte FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carolo Beila came free, but Epifanio Montel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alberto Ortzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Epifanio Montel having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Nestor Claus left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ladislao Lauaxeta was the one to do the kick off. Nestor Claus's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Epifanio Montel firmly grabbed it by the left post. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 56th minute, but Epifanio Montel got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Maldita Suerte FC hanging dry this time. Maldita Suerte FC's Isidro Mark pulled a muscle in his leg after 57 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Rene Florinio charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rene Florinio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Maldita Suerte FC's Epifanio Montel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Constantino Perutxo in the 60th minute of play. In the 66th minute, River Plate's Nestor Claus ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Epifanio Montel. Epifanio Montel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Maldita Suerte FC's Epifanio Montel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ildefonso Cordeiro in the 70th minute of play. River Plate's Carolo Beila got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 75 minutes, Nestor Claus made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Maldita Suerte FC's Epifanio Montel tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ladislao Lauaxeta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amador Eleazar having to interfere. After having played for 88 minutes, Carolo Beila managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carolo Beila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Nestor Claus managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor Claus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Epifanio Montel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. River Plate played a much better game than Maldita Suerte FC and deserved their victory. The Maldita Suerte FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
