The supporters of Alvear FC booed when Durazno FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Martinez didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pompiliu Iacob during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 22 minutes, Igor Eriz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Durazno FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Igor Eriz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Igor Eriz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Dante having to interfere. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Norberto Firman sped through Durazno FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Freddy Gaizko. Federico Martinez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Charles Dante made a huge save. Freddy Gaizko came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Alvear FC's Ubaldo Hartz. But to his dismay, Ubaldo Hartz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Norberto Firman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ramiro Funes Mori fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alvear FC's protests and gave Ramiro Funes Mori a yellow card for diving instead. In the 39th minute, Ramiro Funes Mori hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Norberto Firman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Freddy Gaizko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ubaldo Hartz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Federico Martinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Dante having to interfere. After the first half Alvear FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Alvear FC's Charles Dante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Federico Martinez in the 54th minute of play. Pompiliu Iacob took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Freddy Gaizko. Durazno FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 58 minutes, Omar Galo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Durazno FC and the Alvear FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Durazno FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Omar Galo hit a great ball. Freddy Gaizko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norberto Firman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Pompiliu Iacob hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Charles Dante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Federico Martinez in the 70th minute of the match. Freddy Gaizko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norberto Firman in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute of the match, Norberto Firman tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Freddy Gaizko saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience was convinced that Norberto Firman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Freddy Gaizko was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. 85 minutes into the game, Cristian Solustiano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Durazno FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alvear FC the free kick. After 85 played minutes Durazno FC got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Solustiano. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norberto Firman in the 87th minute of play forced Durazno FC's goalkeeper Freddy Gaizko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ubaldo Hartz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Freddy Gaizko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Norberto Firman's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Alvear FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
