With his leg Leandro Sayvion managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Boca Juniors's Iker Frances fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Gimnsia de Jujuy's zone, Javier Chayo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leandro Sayvion came out of the goal and Javier Chayo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Javier Chayo in the 16th minute of play forced Gimnsia de Jujuy's goalkeeper Leandro Sayvion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Gimnsia de Jujuy's Leandro Sayvion got control of the ball when Iker Frances tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Boca Juniors booed when Gimnsia de Jujuy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Clemencin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iker Frances sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Javier Chayo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ramon Orlo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cleto Theodore's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Javier Chayo was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's Iker Frances sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leandro Sayvion narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edelmiro Jaen's late challenge caught a Boca Juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leandro Sayvion didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boca Juniors. After 86 played minutes, Boca Juniors's Gaspar Belarmo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Leandro Sayvion came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Boca Juniors reached it. Leandro Sayvion didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Javier Chayo went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Leandro Sayvion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Javier Chayo, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Iker Frances managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Iker Frances was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leandro Sayvion breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leandro Sayvion made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javier Chayo in the 96th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Boca Juniors fully deserved thier win.
